Friends, As you know, I have introduced legislation this Congress that would dramatically improve the lives of many veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). My bill, HR 952, would lower the burdensome threshold that veterans have to meet to receive compensation for injuries incurred in service, namely PTSD. It will help clear the enormous VA disability claims backlog that is significantly delaying or denying benefit payments to veterans for their disabilities. I write to you today to ask you and your organization’s help in demonstrating just how important this legislation is to our nation’s veterans. Over the last few months, I have been asking my constituents to visit my website and become citizen co-sponsors of the bill, also known as the COMBAT Act. I now ask that you encourage your members across the country to do the same. These citizen co-sponsorships will demonstrate the broad support for providing veterans suffering from PTSD with the best care possible. People from across the country, with the full spectrum of backgrounds and experiences, now have a chance to make their voice heard. With your help, we can show other Members of Congress how important this issue really is, and put pressure on the House to pass this legislation into law. Please direct your members to http://johnhall.house.gov/veterans_combatact.asp, which will allow them to sign up as citizen co-sponsors of the COMBAT Act. Thank you for your attention to this important matter for our veterans. Sincerely, John J. Hall |
