Post-Deployment Needs of 4th Infantry Rise Sharply

May 24, 2010 (Army Times) - Nearly 1,000 soldiers from the 4th Infantry Division’s 4th Brigade Combat Team have been identified as needing special counseling when they get home from their yearlong tour in Afghanistan, Fort Carson officials said.

May 6, 2010 (New York Times) - For five years American soldiers manned a series of outposts in what was perhaps the most hostile corner in all of Afghanistan. The place was the Korangal Valley, which unfolds beneath the crags and terraced ridges of Kunar Province about 25 miles from the border with Pakistan. The idea was to put Americans on the ground to intercept Taliban fighters who were passing through to fight in other parts of the country.
