June 18, 2009 - On July 30, 2009, the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee will hold a second oversight hearing bout Gulf War veterans, “The Implications of VA’s Limited Scope of Gulf War Illness Research.” The hearing will be chaired by Representative Harry Mitchell (D-Arizona), the Chairman of the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee. In January 2009, Veterans for Common Sense wrote Committee Chairman Bob Filner and asked Congress to review the needs and concerns of Gulf War veterans. On May 19, 2009, Veterans for Common Sense testified before Chairman Mitchell and Ranking Member David Roe (R-Tennessee). Our VCS testimony, including two letters about Gulf War illness from our VCS members, can be viewed here. VCS thanks Chairman Mitchell and Ranking Member Roe for their continued interested on this issue. |
