Arab Nations Oppose US Attack on Iraq


Ankara, Turkey (AFP) The United States suffered a double setback in its war designs on Iraq when Turkey unexpectedly refused to allow US forces to deploy on its soil, and the Arab league turned thumbs down on any Arab participation in such a war.

The Turkish parliament, facing widespread domestic opposition to a US-led war on Iraq, narrowly voted against a US bid to deploy 62,000 US troops in southern Turkey for a northern flank attack.
